Carlos Carrera

Over the course of nearly forty years, Carlos Carrera has painted his homeland like few others. He is a chronicler of Chihuahua's culture, capturing the essence of places, expressions and distinctive figures from his beloved land. His work has been exhibited in renowned cultural spaces of the region and in 2022, one of his paintings was selected for presenting the collective exhibition "El color del sabio" in Brussels, Belgium.
His paintings have been chosen for several book covers of publications such as "La Región del Desierto de Chihuahua", "Escribir Adrede para Leer" by Oquis, "La Ciudad de Chihuahua" and "El Refugio" among others. He is co-author of the books "La Vivienda Popular en Chihuahua," "Días de Lluvia," "Sin Domicilio Alguno" and "Los Niños de la Calle."

„Día de Muertos – Día de Arte Méxicano“ | Watercolor and Mural Art Workshop

Step into the vibrant world of Mexican culture and celebrate the rich symbolism of Día de Muertos in captivating art workshops, where watercolor painting and mural art come together in a colorful fusion. Embrace the spirit of this world-renowned tradition as you explore with two famous Mexican artists the depths of its symbolism, paying homage to the departed through art, color and creativity. 
Discover the symbolic elements, such as marigold flowers, sugar skulls, candles, and ofrendas, which are central to this beautiful celebration and learn how this symbolism can be translated into your art.

Our “Día de Arte Méxicano is divided in two workshops. The first unit is dedicated to watercolor painting and the second to mural art. After a thematic and methodological introduction to Día de Muertos, you will work with the artists to create your own art.
The workshops are open to participants of all artistic levels who are drawn to the colorful world of Día de Muertos and wish to express their creativity through watercolor painting and mural art. Whether you are captivated by the symbolism, fascinated by Mexican culture, or simply eager to explore new artistic avenues, this workshop welcomes you with open arms.

Celebrate life & death, love & tradition  and lots of creativity in the Día de Muertos-Watercolor and Mural Art Workshop!

The workshops will be held in English and Spanish, according to the preferences of the participants.

There is a 10% discount on the total price if you book both workshops!

Painting materials will be provided and are included in the participation fee. Participants will take home their artwork, signed by the Mexican artists if they wish!
