Die Festwochen in Meidling - Online

Die Wiener Festwochen wollten euch im Juni für einen Tag nach Meidling einladen, um zwischen Meidlinger Markt, Einkaufsstraßen und Theresienbad künstlerische Arbeiten zu entdecken, die die Stadt zur Bühne machen. Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation mussten wir unser Programm vor Ort leider absagen, aber streamen dafür Teile davon live aus Meidling auf Facebook und www.festwochen.at.

Zusätzlich gibt es auf unserer Website „Gesten“ von jenen Künstler*innen zu sehen, deren Arbeiten in der ehemaligen Seifenfabrik in Meidling gezeigt worden wären.

Die Schriftstellerin Bettina Balàka begab sich für die Festwochen auf eine literarische Entdeckungsreise durch Meidling. In ihrem neuen Text führt sie uns durch einen der historisch ältesten, aber auch modernsten Bezirke Wiens und erzählt von ihren Begegnungen mit den Bewohner*innen. Wir übertragen die Lesung live aus Meidling.

Im Anschluss folgt eine musikalische Intervention vom Construction Choir Collective im öffentlichen Raum, kuratiert von Czirp Czirp. Der Chor erkundet Meidling in Form von einer musikalischen Intervention, die improvisierte Gesangsbewegungen und stimmliche Interaktion beinhaltet, und musikalisch auf das Programm der diesjährigen Festwochen verweist.

Bettina Balàka, 1966 in Salzburg geboren, studierte Englisch und Italienisch und lebt nach mehreren Auslandsaufenthalten (England, USA) in Wien. Seit 1991 ist sie als freiberufliche Schriftstellerin und Übersetzerin tätig. Verfasserin von Romanen, Lyrik, Erzählungen und Essays. Zahlreiche Buchveröffentlichungen, Theaterstücke und Hörspiele. Mitglied der Grazer Autorinnen Autorenversammlung und Verband Dramatischer Schriftsteller*innen Österreichs.

Das Construction Choir Collective vereint gemeinschaftliche (experimentelle) Formen des Gesangs mit performativen und künstlerischen Praktiken, um alternative Wahrnehmungen künstlerischer, räumlicher und alltäglicher Situationen zu ermöglichen.

DIE FESTWOCHEN IN MEIDLING – ONLINE

The Wiener Festwochen planned to invite you to Meidling for a day in June to experience several artistic works that use the city as a stage. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we had to cancel our program on site. Instead we decided to stream parts of it live on Facebook and on www.festwochen.at. Join us online!

In addition, our website also features "gestures" by those artists whose works would have been presented in the former soap factory in Meidling.

For the Festwochen, the writer Bettina Balàka went on a literary expedition through the district of Meidling. This brought her to one of the oldest, which is at the same time one of the most modern districts of Vienna and to the people who live there. Commissioned by Wiener Festwochen to curate an event in Meidling, Czirp Czirp now invited The Construction Choir Collective to do a performance in public space. The choir will explore the urban landscape of Meidling through a musical intervention, which includes improvisation singing movement and vocal interaction, with a musical nod to this years program of the Wiener Festwochen.

Bettina Balàka, born in Salzburg in 1966, studied English and Italian and lives in Vienna after several stays abroad (England, USA). Since 1991 she has worked as a freelance writer and translator. Author of novels, poetry, short stories and essays. Numerous book publications, plays and radio plays. Member of the Grazer Autorenversammlung and the Verband Dramatischer Schriftsteller Österreichs.

The Construction Choir Collective unites common (experimental) forms of singing with other performative and artistic practices to give way to alternative perceptions of artistic, spatial situations and situations of everyday life.
