Ailsa Li: Those Who Remain

Time distorts memories. Distance disrupts time. The far away memories stay alive as it shifts every time they are told. A tale of a foreigner who witnesses the crumbling of their reality. The tide of history and generations of conflicts. Some were taken, some were gone. Some moved away and some remained.

The piece revolves around fantasy and reality, exploring our humanness and humour in hard situations. The scenes in this comedic and physical piece are constantly shifted at the heat of intensity. Through cutting the rationality, the audience is invited to witness their emotions being left hanging and the power of imagination.

Dealing with natives and foreigners, keeping your cultural identity while blending into another, the joy of freedom and the guilt of having a second chance … These topics might seem difficult yet essential for anyone in the times of global mobilisation.

Dance artist and theatre practitioner Ailsa Li relocated to Europe in the summer of 2020, a year after the outbreak of a series of protests and conflicts between the government and the pro-democratic Hongkongers. With the power’s tightening grip on Hong Kong, the city has gone from 26 to 1,014 political prisoners in less than three years.

Maxime Jeannerat: ΑΕΝΑΟΣ

ΑΕΝΑΟΣ illustrates the growth of a young human. The audience witnesses a journey through the different steps of the performance, where the character is confronting himself to his limits, his demons and his mistakes. The goal of this performance is to celebrate those mistakes, to give them the space they really take in our daily life and highlight the perpetually of those specific difficulties, appearing several times in our life. The error is coming often, what is changing is our reaction towards it, if what is considered as wrong can be transformed to become useful and healthy in our research of wisdom.

This solo is trying to share a vulnerable side of a young human, fighting with his own demons and insecurities, with a strong back and an open heart.
